Common Questions
No prior fitness experience is required. This is an entry-level fitness course that does not require any previous fitness skills or experience, making it ideal for people looking to become qualified fitness instructors.
Practical training takes place on campus and in working gyms. Through ALG's partnership with Fitness First and Goodlife Health Clubs, students have access to state-of-the-art gym facilities to put their theory into practice. Some trainers also bring their class outdoors during the summer.
The course runs for 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment across 4 terms of 10 weeks, and 12 weeks of holidays. Each week you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week for self-directed learning should also be set aside for homework.
Upon completing the SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness, graduates can pursue roles as a fitness instructor or group instructor. The qualification also serves as a pathway into the SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness, which offers opportunities to work as a personal trainer.
You must meet one of the following criteria: an IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent) with no individual band score below 5.0; an ALG in-house English proficiency test equivalent to IELTS 5.5; a Certificate IV level qualification (or higher) completed within the AQF in Australia within 2 years before starting this course; or completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia in the English language within 2 years before starting this course. You must also complete ALG's Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) online test.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
