Certificate III in Hairdressing

SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing is the latest nationally accredited qualification for aspiring hairdressers, delivered by Vigil International College at its Parramatta campus. Students learn professional cutting, colouring, styling and salon-service techniques, working in a simulated salon environment alongside experienced trainers before progressing to real client services. Across its 28 units of competency, students learn to design and create one-length, layered, graduated and combined haircut structures, colour and lighten hair, provide full and partial highlighting and bleach treatments, straighten and relax hair chemically, treat hair and scalp conditions, style long-hair up-dos and select hair extensions, alongside foundational units in salon hygiene, financial transactions, client communication and sustainable work practices. The course runs over 52 weeks of full-time, face-to-face study (20 hours per week) combining classroom sessions, hands-on salon practice and structured self-study, with assessment through written questions, case studies, presentations and observed role plays. Graduates are equipped for roles as a hairdresser, barber, salon manager or hair and makeup artist, and can pathway into SHB40115 Certificate IV in Hairdressing or SHB50115 Diploma of Hairdressing for further study. The college supplies all learning and assessment materials as part of the course.
