During this course you will build practical skills including taking and recording basic vital signs and tests, recording intake and output on fluid balance chart and/or food chart, measuring and recording weight, collecting urine, sputum or faecal specimen, and recognising changes in consciousness.
You need to complete a total of 15 units — 7 core units and 8 elective units. Of the 8 elective units, at least 6 must be selected from the listed electives, and up to 2 may come from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided they are relevant to the work outcome. All Group B electives must be selected for the award of the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care) specialisation.
Yes, work placement is required. To achieve this qualification with the Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care specialisation, the candidate must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the unit of competency.
The course fee for international students ranges from $11,250 to $11,590 AUD. Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials range from $300 to $1,000 AUD per course.
