Yes. You must already be employed to enrol as an apprentice or trainee with TAFE Queensland. You should speak to your employer about choosing TAFE Queensland as your Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO). Employers need to be able to provide the necessary human and physical resources to qualify for an apprentice.
Yes. The Queensland government is supporting young Queenslanders up to the age of 25 by providing access to fully subsidised training across a range of priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications, including this course.
International students must demonstrate English Language Proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.0 with no individual band less than 5.5, or an equivalent accepted English language test result. Additionally, applicants must have completed Year 10 or equivalent, and non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or a qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
In this course you will repair and service engines, transmissions, cooling, steering and suspension systems, electrical circuits and systems, hydraulic and air braking systems, and diesel fuel injection systems on trucks, buses, earth-moving equipment, tractors and other farming machinery. You will also apply your skills and knowledge to complete heavy vehicle safety and roadworthy inspections.
