Common Questions
The qualification is delivered over 52 weeks including 12 weeks of break. Classes are conducted 2 days a week for 8 hours each and 1 day a week for 4 hours, plus students need to attend an additional 25 hours of practice time in the automotive workshop per term and approximately 8 hours per week towards self-paced learning and assessment.
International students must have a minimum 6 IELTS score or equivalent, unless the student is exempt from providing evidence of English Language proficiency (an exemption list is available on the website). Students must also complete a pre-training interview and a Language Literacy, Numeracy test as part of the enrolment process, and offshore students will need to go through a telephone interview.
Yes. All students must participate in Workshop Safety Training at the start of their course. Students will be provided safety training and will be assessed on their safety skills before they are allowed to complete any further training and/or assessment in the workshop.
Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling, or other relevant qualifications.
Yes. Credit may be granted towards this qualification for those who have completed AUR20516 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology, AUR20716 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation, or other relevant qualifications. Additionally, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for those with relevant work experience, and Credit Transfer is available for AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation in Australia.
