Individuals with this qualification perform tasks under broad supervision involving a broad range of skills that are applied in a wide variety of contexts, which will involve discretion and judgement in selecting and operating equipment, coordinating resources and applying contingency measures during work.
Work must comply with work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace. Students complete a total of 17 units of competency (11 core and 6 elective) and gain access to a fully equipped industry-standard workplace and theory classroom, with delivery face-to-face on campus over 52 weeks (44 weeks of classes, 8 weeks of breaks).

Entry Requirements
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencement
- Demonstrate the attainment of at least ACSF level 3 by successful completion of Australian Year 12 qualification, or equivalent
- English language proficiency, evidenced by one of the following: IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5), or PTE Academic score of 50, or successful completion of an Upper-Intermediate level ELICOS General English course (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 exit level) — note entry into Upper-Intermediate ELICOS typically requires an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent
