The total fees for the 6-month course range from $6,082 to $7,293 (full fee), with fees varying depending on the subjects you enrol into. Fees can be paid upfront each semester online with VISA or Mastercard or at an Australia Post outlet, or you may be eligible for a payment plan if you have difficulty paying upfront.
Yes, you are required to complete 36 service periods in total. Approximately half of these will be completed at TAFE SA, and you will need to complete the remainder as vocational placement (paid or unpaid), which is equivalent to approximately 150 hours. It is critical that the minimum requirement of 36 service periods is met to be deemed competent and receive your Certificate.
Yes, students under the age of 18 are not permitted to participate in any alcoholic beverage tastings during the course. Participation in alcoholic beverage tastings will only be allowed once you have reached 18 years of age.
Uniform requirements vary depending on campus location, but may include: a name badge ($7.50), black pants or skirt, a long-sleeved business shirt (colour dependent on campus location), a bib apron with a pocket (colour dependent on campus location), and a waiter's friend (bottle opener). Detailed information will be provided to students upon offer acceptance.
This course is delivered through a blend of on-campus and online classes with most classes face to face. Full time students have on-campus classes 2 to 5 days a week from 9.00 to 5.30pm. You will also need to complete a number of practical assessments in a TAFE SA restaurant on-campus, depending on which campus you are studying at.
