About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Successful completion of Australian year 11 or equivalent; OR
Successful completion of an AQF recognised Certificate III or any other relevant qualification; OR
Relevant work experience in a related field.
LLN requirement: competence at or above the following ACSF levels: Learning: L3, Reading: R2/3, Writing: W2/3, Oral Communication: OC3/4, Numeracy: N2/3
English requirement (applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds only): IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent
Students must complete a police check and be approved prior to any work experience taking place

The course runs for 6 Terms and is delivered full time on campus at either the Sydney or Melbourne campus, with 6 weeks of work placement included.

How many hours of work placement are required for this course?

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. International students are required to complete 120 hours of work placement as part of their full-time study.

What are the English language requirements for international applicants?

Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the following minimum requirement: IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent. English test scores are only valid if they are less than 2 years old at the commencement of the course.
