About This Course

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) (CHC33021) prepares students to work under supervision and delegation as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering person-centred support to people who require assistance due to ageing, disability or other circumstances. Students follow an individualised plan for each client, applying their skills in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and State legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Delivered face to face on campus over 52 weeks, the course includes a minimum of 120 hours of work placement with aged care and disability service providers arranged in the local area. Students complete 15 units of competency (9 core and 6 elective, drawn from Ageing and Disability specialisations) covering individualised support, communication in health and community services, working with diverse people, infection control and safe work practices.

Graduates are prepared for roles supporting older people and people with disability, with further training pathways into the Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Certificate IV in Community Services, or Diploma of Community Services.

General Requirements

International Students

Satisfactory completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 12 or higher
IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent), satisfactory completion of the CAC entry test, or completion of an ELICOS program
Minimum age of 18 years at commencement
Completion of a Pre-Training Assessment prior to commencement
A valid Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance and immunisation history are required prior to commencing work placement
