Common Questions
The course has a total duration of 52 weeks, which includes 40 weeks of study and 12 weeks of scheduled breaks. Students study full-time at 20 hours per week across 4 terms.
Yes, to achieve this qualification, candidates must complete at least 120 hours of work placement. Students are also required to have a full vaccination record as per the guidelines of NSW Health for placements in hospital or aged care facilities, a Police Check, and any additional evidence that work placement providers may require.
Prospective students must provide proof of English language proficiency, with a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, in addition to being at least 18 years of age and having completed Year 12 or equivalent study.
After completing the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), students can progress to the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support or the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services.
Assessments will be conducted in a variety of formats which can include written questions and answers, projects, simulations, demonstrations, and work placements. Students who only complete some units will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed.
