Common Questions
No, this is an entry-level aged care course that does not require any previous skills or experience, making it suitable for people from various backgrounds. This includes those with professional qualifications in health or community services who want practical skills to work in the aged care industry.
As a requirement of this course, you will complete a 120-hour work placement in an aged care setting. At least 6 weeks before starting any work placement, you must have a current Australian national police check (the cost of which is your responsibility and not included in course fees). You are also required to have a double COVID-19 and flu vaccination.
Each week you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week for self-directed learning should be set aside for homework. The hours allocated to structured study may vary during work placement.
Upon completing the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), you can apply for roles such as Aged Care Worker, Personal Care Assistant, Residential Care Worker, Accommodation Support Worker, Assisting in Nursing Role, and In-home Respite Worker. The course also provides a study pathway into the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support for those seeking further professional development.
You will be assessed in both simulated and real work environments. In the classroom, assessments will involve projects with role-plays, case studies, observations, and short answer questions. The assessment conditions will replicate a workplace environment for these classroom-based assessments. You will also be assessed during your supervised work placement in an aged care facility.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
