Common Questions
The assessment methods for this course include a theory component and a mandatory practical placement component of 120 hours. You must complete the placement hours to be able to achieve competency in the units and successfully complete the course.
A current Police Check and Working with Children Check are required before the commencement of practical placements for those specific courses which include a practical placement component.
Yes, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. Evidence of skills and knowledge accumulated through work, volunteer roles, family commitments and various tasks undertaken in everyday life can be used to help you gain a qualification. Credit Transfer is also available.
After completing the Certificate III in Individual Support, you may progress to qualifications such as CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services, CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support, or upskill by attaining CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health, CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services, or CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health.
To be awarded the Certificate III in Individual Support, competency must be demonstrated in 15 units, consisting of 9 core units and 6 elective units. Please note that elective units may vary by state and are subject to change to meet client and industry requirements.
