Common Questions
Yes, you need to complete 120 hours (15 days) in a care service facility. You will work as a student (unpaid) during work placement. Before commencing work placement, you will be required to get a current national criminal record check, and SGSCC will assist you with this application process. SGSCC also offers a simulated learning environment.
No. This is a competency-based course. You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 13 units of learning. Assessments are made up of questions and answers, case studies, skill demonstration in the nursing lab, and projects. Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required.
This qualification is subsidised by the NSW Government. You can register to check your Smart & Skilled eligibility and student fee contribution.
Facilities include digital learning and assessment materials on aNewSpring (Learning Management System), simulated nursing facilities and equipment, an ergonomic classroom, a student lounge, WiFi, and student health and well-being support. SGSCC also provides academic support, pastoral care/student support, language literacy and numeracy support, and career guidance.
When you have completed and been deemed competent, you can progress with SGSCC to the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, or the CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services.
