Whiteboard illustrations, multimedia presentations, oral instructions with handouts and interactive learning through role plays, case studies and supervising the practical implementation of skills.

Common Questions
The course runs for 52 weeks full-time, including 120 hours of work placement. A fast-track option is also available, running for 26 weeks at 40 hours of face-to-face delivery per week.
Completing placement is compulsory in this qualification. Students are required to complete 120 hours of placement to satisfy this component of the qualification. Students will be required to work shifts determined by the placement provider, and these can include early mornings or late nights, any day of the week, including public holidays. MIA may be able to assist in arranging suitable placements.
Yes. Students must obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Online Modules prior to placement. An Annual Influenza Vaccination is required by 1 May each year for attendance at Aged Care facilities. Students who are not up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations will be ineligible for placement at a Queensland Health Facility, though they may be able to complete placement at another organisation. Some Aged Care organisations may also require Hepatitis B immunisation.
The institute's assessment methods include written assignments, written and oral questioning, observation, and work-based projects.
Yes. An application can be made for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when the student believes that they have already attained the necessary skills and competencies elsewhere (work, other study etc.) or have an equivalent qualification or part of a qualification. MIA recognises the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other RTOs and grants credit for these towards an award where applicable. The application for RPL and/or Credit Transfer should be lodged prior to or immediately after the enrolment.
