The course runs for 9 months and is available in both Full Time and Part Time options. Full time study involves 4 to 5 days a week, while part time involves 3 to 4 days a week.
Yes, you will need to complete a vocational placement for a minimum of 120 hours. If you are not currently employed in a relevant area, you will be placed by TAFE SA's Placement unit. To make sure that you are able to be placed, you will need to provide the required clearances, checks and certificates by the date advised.
You will require a current National Police check and Working with Children check, and if necessary complete a Manual Tasks and CPR refresher course before vocational placement. If you do not have these checks or certificates you may not be able to undertake vocational placement. Aged care facilities may have their own policies on vaccination requirements, and you may need to show evidence of vaccination before starting your vocational placement.
For the 9 month course, the fees are: Fee Free TAFE $0, Subsidised $3,293, and Concession $1,976. There are also additional costs such as a Police Check ($27.40 if organised by the placement unit), DHS Working with Children Clearance ($65.45), Manual Tasks Refresher if required ($101.00), CPR Update if required ($56.00), and a TAFE SA Polo Shirt ($33.00).
