The course duration is 78 weeks, which is made up of 50 contact weeks and 10 weeks of work placement plus 18 weeks of holiday breaks.
To achieve this qualification through SBTA, you are required to complete 200 hours of work placement within an approved aged care provider. Work placement is an opportunity for you to develop practical skills in an actual aged care facility under the supervision of a workplace supervisor.
International students must demonstrate at least an upper-intermediate level of English proficiency, such as an IELTS score of 6.0 or an equivalent score from other recognised tests. Equivalent scores include TOEFL iBT: 60-78, Cambridge English Exams (B2 First FCE / C1 Advanced CAE): 169 or above on the Cambridge scale, PTE Academic: 52-58, or an English proficiency of upper intermediate level or above from any NEAS accredited ELICOS provider.
Students can choose to progress to study CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support after successfully completing this course.
To obtain the full CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support qualification, students need to complete 15 units of competency successfully, which is made up of 9 core units plus 6 elective units chosen from a range of electives available to the student cohort.
