The total course fee is AUD $13,000, which includes an enrolment fee of $300, a material fee of $1,200, and tuition fees of $11,500 paid in four instalments of AUD $2,875 per term. An RPL fee of $800 per unit applies if seeking Recognition of Prior Learning. All payments are in Australian dollars.
The course uses a blended delivery model comprising face-to-face training two days per week in classroom and simulated work environments, self-paced study, and 128 hours of mandatory work placement conducted over 16 days. The total volume of learning is 816 hours across 40 weeks of scheduled training divided into 4 terms of 10 weeks each.
Students are assessed using a variety of methods including workplace observation of practical skills in real-world settings, a portfolio of work documenting workplace scenarios, written responses such as case studies and knowledge-based tasks, role play observation simulating care scenarios, and workplace supervisor feedback during work placement.
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support includes 15 units of competency — 9 core units covering topics such as infection control, legal compliance, communication, and supporting independence, and 6 elective units specialising in ageing and disability care including dementia care, community participation, and palliative care.
Students will need a computer with internet access and basic office software, basic stationery such as notebooks and pens, and access to course materials including learner guides provided by UMA College. Facilities are equipped with relevant training resources, including simulated work environments for practical sessions.
