To achieve the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Upon successful completion of all coursework and this required work placement, students will be awarded the qualification.
Students must have English proficiency as guided by Macallan College's English Proficiency Policy and Procedures. This includes an IELTS Test with an overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5. Additionally, a pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71 is required. All applicants from AL3 countries must also sit an IELTS test.
Graduates can pursue roles in the aged care, disability support, and community care sectors, including positions such as Aged Care Worker, Disability Support Worker, Personal Care Assistant (PCA), Residential Support Worker, Home Care Assistant, Community Care Worker, and Support Worker.
After completing the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, students can further their career with advanced qualifications such as the Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Certificate IV in Disability, Certificate IV in Mental Health, or Diploma of Community Services. These pathways can lead to senior roles like Team Leader, Care Supervisor, or Case Manager in aged care, disability, or community services.
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support requires a total of 15 units of competency, comprising 9 core units and 6 elective units. The core units cover areas such as providing individualised support, infection prevention and control, working legally and ethically, and safe work practices, while the elective units focus on specialised areas including aged care, disability support, dementia care, and palliative care.
