You will learn to work and communicate effectively in an ICT environment, install and optimise operating system software, troubleshoot ICT problems, apply the fundamentals of networking, build simple websites, and apply introductory programming techniques. Through practical coursework, you will also gain experience responding to inquiries about software and hardware problems, adapting existing programs to meet user requirements, and administering computer networks.
The course fee for international students ranges from $10,225 to $10,530 AUD. Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 to $1,000 AUD per course.
The course consists of 6 core units plus 6 elective units, of which at least 4 units must be selected from the listed elective units. Core units include subjects such as applying introductory programming techniques, working in a team, and identifying IP, ethics and privacy policies in ICT environments. Specialty units include topics like building simple web pages, installing and optimising operating system software, and evaluating cloud computing solutions.
This qualification could help you prepare for roles such as Help Desk Assistant/Officer, ICT Operations/User Support, PC Support, and Technical Support. You can also continue your studies with pathway options including the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) or the Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Programming) at TAFE NSW Petersham.
