Common Questions
The Certificate III in Joinery has a total duration of 57 weeks, comprising 51 teaching weeks and 6 weeks of scheduled breaks.
The course combines 408 hours of classroom-based theory and 612 hours of practical training conducted in ICM's dedicated Joinery workshop. Students will learn how to safely use carpentry tools, operate computer-controlled machinery, and manufacture advanced joinery components including stairs, doors, and windows.
You need to meet at least one of the accepted English language requirements. For IELTS, a minimum score of 6.0 is required (or 5.5 with 10 weeks ELICOS, or 5.0 with 20 weeks ELICOS). Equivalent scores are accepted from TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English Advanced (CAE), and PTE Academic. Alternatively, completion of full-time studies in Australia in English within the past 2 years at AQF level 4 or higher on a student visa is also accepted.
Yes. ICM can grant Course Credit towards your course for units of competency already completed with another RTO or authorised issuing organisation. There is no charge to apply for Credit. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available, allowing skills and knowledge gained through work and life experience to be formally recognised. You should ideally apply for RPL at the time of enrolment, but may also apply up to 2 weeks into your course. Note that as an international student, granted credit or RPL will reduce your course duration.
Upon successful completion, graduates can seek employment as a Joiner, Stair Builder, Window/Door Fabricator, Shopfitter, Cabinetmaker, CNC Operator, Installer, Timber Machinist, or Leading Hand/Supervisor (with experience). Further education pathways include the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural), Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Builder stream), and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
