Students need to gain competency in 36 units in total — comprising 20 core units and 16 elective units — to successfully complete this course.
Assessment is structured throughout the course and is carried out via a range of tasks including written assessments and practical assessments (observations). If learners are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in Acumen's policies and procedures.
Yes. Learners with prior learning and work experience can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Learners who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer.
International students must provide certified evidence of one of the following: IELTS 5.5, a minimum of 6 weeks of upper intermediate level ELICOS at an approved ELT centre, PTE – 42, CAE – 47, TOEFL – IBT – 46, or TOEFL – PBT – 527.
The course covers a broad range of automotive skills including applying safe work practices, testing and servicing batteries, repairing electrical circuits, servicing and repairing suspension, steering, engine management systems, transmissions and braking systems, and inspecting and servicing engine cooling systems, among many other light vehicle mechanical competencies.
