The course is offered full time over 70 weeks, including 15 weeks of holidays, and is delivered via face-to-face classroom-based learning and work-based training at the Brisbane campus.
The tuition fee is AUD 14,800, with an admin fee of AUD 300 and a resource fee of AUD 500. The resource fee ensures students receive Automotive Technology book (6th Edition, A System Approach), learning material, PPE including shirts, safety glasses, a pair of gloves, and access to an individual apprentice tool kit available to use at the workshop, as well as access to Wi-Fi for the duration of the course.
In order to gain the certificate, 36 units must be completed for this qualification, comprising both core units and elective units from the AUR Training Package.
All units of competence will be assessed using a selection of tools including projects incorporating role-plays, case studies, observations and short answer questions, practical training and assessment completed in the training workshop, and written and oral questions.
Yes. RPL is the assessment process for recognising competencies gained through previous learning, work, and life experiences. Students who have completed any of the subjects or have practical experience that can be used for RPL can contact VCI prior to enrolment. In order to be granted RPL, candidates are required to provide evidence that they are already competent in the specific subject/subjects and these evidences should be valid, authentic, current and sufficient.
