The total course fee is AU$42,500, which comprises tuition fees of AU$35,000 and non-tuition fees of AU$7,500.
International students require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 for direct entry, or an IELTS score of 5.5 with an ELICOS course of up to 10 weeks, or an IELTS score of 5.0 with an ELICOS course of up to 20 weeks prior to the main VET course. An Oxford Placement Test score of 61 or higher is also accepted. Results older than two years are not acceptable.
Students must arrange their own safety boots, workshop uniform (workshop overalls), and other PPE including apron and protective glasses required for practical sessions at the automotive workshop. Workshop tools will be available at the automotive workshop located on campus. Material fees only cover handouts and printed materials. IIT can suggest suppliers upon request.
To achieve this qualification, students must complete 36 units of competency, comprising 20 core units plus 16 elective units. The course is delivered over 70 weeks including holiday breaks, with a volume of learning of 1,200 hours, and students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.
After achieving the AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, individuals can progress to AUR40216 - Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis. In terms of employment, possible job titles include Light Vehicle Mechanical Technician, Mobile Plant Technician, Light Vehicle Engine Technician, and Light Vehicle Repair Technician in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
