About This Course

Become a painter or decorator by completing the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating at Orange College. This course will teach you everything you need to know to get started and you will learn from industry leaders. This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work. Licensing, legislative and regulatory or certification requirements for painting and decorating work differ between States and Territories. This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway. Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

All students must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission to the college.
Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant's home country equivalent to an Australian Year 11/12 qualification.
IELTS band score of overall 6 (Academic or General) or equivalent in line with the Department of Education and the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) regulations.
Students must have a sense of balance and the ability to cope with the physical demands of the training and assessment that involves working at heights, heavy lifting, manual labour, operation of tools (both manual and power tools) etc.
Students are required to be competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy is applicable for this course. The device must have camera and speaker functions.
Internet Access with a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
Basic digital literacy (ability to communicate and access information through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, search engines, emails and basic use of MS office products).
Note: If a student's educational qualifications do not meet OC's admission requirements, other factors may be considered at the discretion of OC.

How long does the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating take to complete?

The course runs for 59 weeks, including 10 weeks of break/holidays. Classes are scheduled for 49 weeks, with the remaining 10 weeks allocated for breaks, extra tutorials, or reassessment periods as per the requirement of individual students. What are the English language requirements for this course?

What further study pathways are available after completing this qualification?

After successfully completing the CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, students can progress to a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (CPC40120), then a Diploma of Building and Construction – Building (CPC50220), and further to an Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction – Management (CPC60220).
