Certificate III in Painting and Decorating

Course-specific requirement (all applicants)

• Painting and decorating is a physically demanding occupation involving working at height, dealing with chemicals, long hours of standing and bending, and manual handling including erecting trestles and scaffolds and carrying painting equipment. Students must confirm their physical health and fitness and advise Peach Institute of any respiratory illnesses or other physical ailments that may affect their ability to complete the qualification. Peach Institute will provide assistance where possible to overcome barriers to learning, but applicants who do not meet the physical or health requirements may be excluded from enrolment.
• Students are required to source a suitable workplace for the 492 hours of work-based training, including ensuring access to the necessary facilities, equipment and range of work.

Domestic and International students

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of making an application for admission, and should have successfully completed Year 12 or an equivalent Australian senior secondary school qualification.
• All students participate in a Pre-Training Review before enrolment, which identifies any previous training undertaken and its relevance to this qualification, and confirms the basic computing skills needed to support computer-based classroom learning. The Pre-Training Review also determines eligibility to undertake any portion of the qualification through a recognition of prior learning pathway.
• All students complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment during the enrolment process, which is used to identify any reasonable adjustments needed to learning and assessment. Where an adequate level is not demonstrated, the student is referred to an external provider for additional study (at the learner's own cost) and must re-sit the LLN assessment before being accepted into the qualification.

International students (additional requirements)

• Applicants should have successfully completed Year 12 or secondary studies in their home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification.
• Applicants must meet one of the following English language requirements: a valid minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course (results less than three years old); OR evidence of having studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States; OR evidence that, within two years of the application date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course, a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, or a substantial part of a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
• Confirmation of English language level also forms part of the Pre-Training Review.
• A completed International Student application pack must be submitted with evidence of English language proficiency, copies of certificates/qualifications/statements of attainment, supporting documents for any RPL or credit transfer application, a copy of a current and valid passport, a copy of any Australian visa currently held, and a non-refundable application fee of AUD $250.00.
