The course runs for a total of 52 weeks, comprising 44 teaching weeks and 8 weeks of holidays, delivered face to face at the Sydney campus.
Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following: IELTS 6.0, PTE 50, General English Advanced or equivalent, Duolingo 95, an Oban College internal English test, or a Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
The course consists of 29 units in total — 26 core units and 3 elective units. Core units cover areas such as WHS requirements, working at heights, scaffolding, surface preparation, applying paint by brush, roller and spray, colour matching, decorative finishes, wallpaper, and working safely with lead paint and asbestos. Elective units include removing graffiti, applying advanced wall coverings, and applying intumescent coatings.
Students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement and must have completed Australian Year 11 or an equivalent level of schooling, or hold a Certificate III or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
Graduates of the CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating may pursue occupational roles including Painter and Decorator, with skills applicable to both residential and commercial construction work. Please note that licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements differ between States and Territories, so consulting the relevant regulatory authority is advised.
