General Requirements

Students must be above 18 years of age while filling up the application form.
A Pre-Training Review (PTR) will be conducted prior to enrolment in order to confirm that the course selected by the student is appropriate and aligns with Hawk Institute guidance and assessment strategies, as well as the individual's current skills, learning needs, and future aspirations.
Applicants should have successfully completed year 12 or senior secondary studies in the applicant's home country equivalent to Australian senior secondary school examination.
Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements considering they have relevant work experience within the chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet the course requirements. A minimum of 2 years' experience would normally be expected.
International students require either a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry; or IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks); or IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks); or Oxford Placement test with score 61 or higher.
All students are required to undertake an LLND test prior to enrolment and achieve expected performance level of ACSF level 3 for CPC30620.
All students enrolling into this course must have basic computer skills.
Learners are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with the Windows 7 operating system or higher and MS Office applications.
Learners will be required to have a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit including safety shoes (Steel toe), protective glasses, a safety vest (Neon/Glowing), protective gloves, earmuffs, a working uniform mask, and a hard hat.
Learners are expected to have physical abilities and manual handling as it is a physically demanding occupation, including ability to work at heights, tolerance to dust, solvents, paints, and chemicals.

How long does the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating take to complete?

The course has a total duration of 56 weeks (including break), with a volume of learning of 1,240 hours. Students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.

What are the fees for the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating?

The tuition fee is AU$25,000 and the non-tuition fee is AU$5,500, bringing the total fee to AU$30,500. Additionally, learners will need a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit which can be purchased from the institute for $400 or from outside suppliers.

What English language requirements do international students need to meet?

What physical requirements do students need to meet for this course?

As this is a physically demanding occupation, students are expected to have the ability to be on their feet for extended periods, work in various environments (including hot, cool, low light, indoors/outdoors), work at heights on ladders, elevated work platforms and scaffolding, wear Personal Protective Equipment, demonstrate fine motor skills, perform manual handling techniques, and have tolerance to dust, solvents, paints, and chemicals.
