Common Questions
The course has a total duration of 56 weeks (including break), with a volume of learning of 1,240 hours. Students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.
The tuition fee is AU$25,000 and the non-tuition fee is AU$5,500, bringing the total fee to AU$30,500. Additionally, learners will need a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit which can be purchased from the institute for $400 or from outside suppliers.
International students require either a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry; or an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent combined with an ELICOS course of up to 10 weeks; or an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent combined with an ELICOS course of up to 20 weeks; or an Oxford Placement test score of 61 or higher (equivalent to IELTS 6.0). Results older than two years are not acceptable.
To achieve this qualification, students must complete 29 units of competency in total — 26 core units plus 3 elective units. The elective units are: Apply advanced wall coverings (CPCCPD3032), Apply trowelled texture coat finishes (CPCCSP3003), and Remove graffiti and apply anti-graffiti coatings (CPCCPD3029).
As this is a physically demanding occupation, students are expected to have the ability to be on their feet for extended periods, work in various environments (including hot, cool, low light, indoors/outdoors), work at heights on ladders, elevated work platforms and scaffolding, wear Personal Protective Equipment, demonstrate fine motor skills, perform manual handling techniques, and have tolerance to dust, solvents, paints, and chemicals.
