Common Questions
This qualification will be delivered over 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment spread over 4 terms of 10 weeks each plus 12 weeks of holidays.
Each unit of competency comprises assessment tasks such as short answer questions, projects incorporating role-plays, case studies, role-plays and observations, all of which must be completed in full before being submitted for marking. Assessments are competency based — students receive either a Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) result. Students have three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency, otherwise a unit re-enrolment fee applies.
International students must meet one of the following English language requirements: IELTS score 6.0 minimum (no lower than 6.0 in each band); TOEFL Paper-based (PBT) score of 547; TOEFL Internet-based (IBT) score 78; TOEIC score 780; or PTE Score 52. English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of being educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country, or successful completion of an English Placement Test.
Students who complete this qualification can continue their education into the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction, as well as higher level qualifications in building and construction.
Classes are delivered 100% face to face at the SCSB Campus (Suite 603, Level 6, 2 Meredith Street, Bankstown NSW 2200) and at a workshop located at 3/12 Anne Street, Saint Marys NSW 2760. SCSB provides students with access to a wide range of learning resources including a Learner's Guide, PowerPoint slides, a Self-Study Guide and other assessment resources, with the option to obtain hard copies of available resources.
