The course runs for 4 terms, which is a 1 year duration, combining on-campus learning with work-based learning.
Yes, it is a requirement that whilst undertaking this course you have access to a workplace through either paid or unpaid work employment for the duration of one term. It is compulsory and applies against the completion of a unit or Units of Competency that form part of your full qualification.
A total of 21 units must be completed: 15 core units and 6 elective units.
Domestic students are required to obtain a Patisserie Tool Kit, Patisserie Uniform and Boots, and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate with an estimated licence fee of $80.00. Note that international students have Tool Kits and Uniforms included in their fees.
Graduates can pursue higher certifications such as the SIT40721 Certificate IV in Patisserie or the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management to accelerate promotions or move into management. Employment opportunities include roles such as Pastry Chef, Patissier, Commis Chef, Line Cook, and Catering Assistant in settings including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, resorts, and cruise ships.
