Certificate III in Roof Plumbing

The CPC32620 Certificate III in Roof Plumbing is delivered by Bentley College in a classroom setting, 20 hours per week, over 52 weeks (44 study weeks plus 8 weeks of break). The course comprises 23 units of competency — 20 core and 3 elective — covering trade skills such as erecting and dismantling scaffolding, working safely at heights, operating elevated work platforms, workplace health and safety requirements, reading plans and marking out materials, working effectively in the plumbing services sector, levelling, cutting and joining sheet metal, working safely on roofs, flashing penetrations through roofs and walls, preparing simple drawings, selecting and installing roof sheeting and wall cladding, collecting and storing roof water, fabricating and installing roof drainage systems and external flashings, installing roof components and coverings including to curved roof structures, installing roof sheets, wall cladding and complex flashings, and first aid. Electives extend into cutting mild steel with oxy-acetylene equipment, welding polymer pipes, and gas metal arc welding. The course suits learners entering the roof plumbing trade and requires proficiency with advanced calculators. Entry requires English proficiency at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, results no more than 2 years old (or completion of General English at Upper Intermediate level), suitable LLN skills, completion of Australian Year 10 or equivalent (or mature age), and a minimum age of 18. On completion, graduates are prepared for roof plumber roles, and can progress into the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), or other Certificate IV and Diploma-level CPC qualifications.
