Certificate III in Solid Plastering

The Certificate III in Solid Plastering (CPC31020) provides a trade outcome in solid plastering for residential and commercial work, applying plaster, cement and other mixtures to walls to create smooth or decorative finishes to interior walls and render to exterior walls. Occupational titles may include Solid Plasterer and Renderer. It is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway, and licensing/legislative requirements vary between states and territories.

The qualification covers handling solid plastering materials and tools, surface preparation, applying float and render to straight and curved surfaces, set coats and trowelled texture finishes, restoring and renovating solid plasterwork, basic levelling and scaffolding, reading plans and specifications, and construction work health and safety, with electives spanning elevated work platforms, acoustic and thermal protection systems, concreting and trestle/plank systems.

Delivered face-to-face (classroom based) over 52 weeks — 48 study weeks plus 4 weeks of holidays, 20 hours per week in the classroom plus an estimated 5 hours per week of self-study — at Darwin Institute of Trade (DIT, RTO 41128, CRICOS 03609J)'s Parramatta NSW and North Melbourne VIC campuses. Graduates may progress to CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction, CPC40320 Certificate IV in Building Project Support, CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), CPC50320 Diploma of Building and Construction (Management), or another Building and Construction higher education pathway. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available to all students upon enrolment, and is particularly recommended for applicants who have worked in a relevant job role for at least 2 years.
