Certificate III in Solid Plastering

The CPC31020 Certificate III in Solid Plastering at Victorian College of Education Australia (VCEA) provides a trade outcome in solid plastering for residential and commercial work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements covering common skills for the construction industry as well as the specialist field of solid plastering. Solid plasterers apply plaster, cement and other mixtures to walls to create smooth or decorative finishes to interior walls, and render to exterior walls. The qualification requires 20 units — 15 core units and 5 electives — covering applying basic levelling procedures, erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding, working effectively and sustainably in the construction industry, planning and organising work, workplace communication, measurements and calculations, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, handling solid plastering materials, using solid plastering tools and equipment, preparing surfaces for plastering, applying float and render to straight and curved surfaces, applying set coats and trowelled texture coat finishes, restoring and renovating solid plasterwork, working safely at heights, installing pre-cast decorative mouldings and acoustic and thermal environmental protection systems, and applying WHS requirements.

Delivery is face to face in the classroom at VCEA's Queen Street campus in Melbourne, with assessment through classroom activity, projects, case studies and assignments. The course runs for 52 weeks full time including holidays and orientation. Tuition is $18,000, plus a non-refundable enrolment fee of $450 and a materials fee of $2,500. Individuals may enter the qualification by completing the CPC20120 Certificate II in Construction. After achieving the Certificate III, graduates could progress to the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction or the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).
