The total volume of learning is 1224 hours, which includes 220 hours of face-to-face training in the classroom, 198 hours of practical training in the workshop, 182 hours of theory assessment, 420 hours of practical assessment, and 204 hours of structured independent learning. This is delivered over 61 weeks of course duration including 51 weeks delivery plus 10 weeks holidays, with students required to attend a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Classroom-based face-to-face theory learning is delivered at 73 Ashley Street, Braybrook, Victoria 3019. Practical training takes place at the workshop located at 99-101 Davies Avenue, Sunshine North, VIC 3020.
International students must meet a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a PTE score of 52 or its equivalent. For equivalency of various English language proficiency testing and other forms of equivalency, applicants should refer to the Enrolment policy and procedure available on the Melbourne Trades College website or the MTC student handbook online.
Assessment will usually commence once training has begun. As this is a competency-based program, assessment continues throughout the program until the participant either achieves competency in the assessment tasks or a further training need is identified and addressed. Students will be required to perform in a range of assessment tasks including and not limited to knowledge questions in the form of written assessments and being observed demonstrating assessment tasks.
Upon successful completion of CPC31020 – Certificate III in Solid Plastering, graduates receive a nationally recognised qualification. Possible job titles include Solid Plasterer and Renderer. Students may also choose to progress with further studies by undertaking CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction. Note that Melbourne Trades College does not guarantee any employment outcomes with its programs.
