This includes industry structures, technology, laws and ethical issues specifically relevant to the tourism and travel industry. Tourism and travel personnel integrate this essential knowledge on a daily basis to work effectively in the industry.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to access product information about travel products to fulfil sales or operational needs. It requires the ability to identify sources of information and to interpret specific details of the products.
Provide advice on international destinations

Common Questions
The Certificate III in Travel can be studied on campus (with 80% on-campus and 20% online delivery at South Bank, Greater Brisbane), online self-directed (100% online, self-paced), or as an apprenticeship/traineeship at various campuses including South Bank, Cairns, Townsville - Pimlico, and Whitsundays - Cannonvale.
The duration depends on your study mode. The on-campus option takes 6 months full time (3 days on campus plus 1 Zoom session per week), while the online self-directed option can be completed in up to 18 months at a part-time pace of approximately 15 hours per week.
Fees vary by study mode and eligibility. For on-campus study at South Bank, fees range from $2,720 (concession) to $3,690 (subsidised) to $6,600 (full fee). For online self-directed study, fees range from $85 (concession) to $240 (subsidised) to $3,145 (full fee). Payment plans are available for students who have difficulty paying upfront.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to become an international corporate or online travel consultant, or a reservation sales agent for a tour operator. It will also give you the foundation skills to complete further studies in your field.
School leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent with a Sound Achievement in English and Mathematics. Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies. It is also recommended that students have sound digital literacy skills due to significant computer work required in the airfares and reservations units. All domestic students are invited to complete a Skills Check after submitting their application, with recommended benchmark levels of 3 in English, 3 in Maths and 3 in Digital Technology.
