Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling

The Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (CPC31320) is a nationally recognised trade qualification offered by The Canberra Training School Pty. Ltd. (trading as CBTC – Canberra Business and Technology College), preparing individuals for employment as wall and floor tilers in residential and commercial construction. The course supports an Australian Apprenticeship pathway and covers handling wall and floor tiling materials, using tiling tools and equipment, preparing surfaces, installing floor and wall tiles, repairing and installing decorative and mosaic tiling, tiling curved surfaces, and applying waterproofing, alongside levelling procedures, workplace communication and measurement skills. The course runs over 52 weeks in a blended delivery mode combining scheduled face-to-face classes with online learning activities, and is assessed through written assessment, projects, case studies and role plays. Students are expected to commit a minimum of 35-45 hours per week to class participation, homework, self-study, assignments and assessments. A supervised work placement gives students hands-on experience working alongside qualified tilers on real tiling projects, including surface preparation, cutting tiles, applying adhesives and grouting, while developing communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The course is delivered across CBTC's Canberra (Braddon and Gungahlin) and Sydney (Bella Vista) campuses.
