About This Course

This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and floor tiling for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of work, wall, and floor tiling. Tilers work with materials like ceramic, glass, slate, marble, and clay. They cut these materials and lay tiles on walls and floors, both interior and exterior. They may also add decorative touches to their basic work. State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements. This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway. Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
Have completed the unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old).
English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following: Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or successful completion of an English Placement Test.
Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
For Packaged courses, the student cannot progress to the higher qualification unless the student has (successfully) completed the lower qualification.

What are the course fees for the Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling?

The total fees include a Tuition Fee of AU$30,000.00, a Material Fee of AU$4,000.00, and an Enrollment Fee of AU$250.00.

How long does the Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling take to complete?

The course has a total duration of 104 weeks, which includes 80 weeks of training and assessment, with the next intakes scheduled for July 2026 and August 2026.

What assessment methods are used in this course?

Assessments may include short written knowledge tests, discussions and oral communication demonstrations, case study exercises, written reports, web based research and reports, final projects and final written exams. To perform at your best, you will probably need to work on the assessments outside of class time.

Can I apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course?

Students who have completed relevant studies or have some of the competencies in the course may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Application for RPL can be made with the initial application or can be made within two weeks of the course commencement using the RPL Application Form and by providing supporting documents. Please note that RPL cannot result in an international student having less than a full time load of study (20 hours per week).
