You will learn to master tiling techniques by accurately cutting, shaping, and laying various types of tiles including ceramic, mosaic, marble, and slate; prepare surfaces and apply waterproofing to wet areas; use a range of adhesives, grouts, and materials to achieve a flawless finish; apply safe work practices and industry standards on any construction site; and interpret plans and specifications to bring a project to life.
There are a total of 20 units to complete the course, including 17 core units and 3 elective units. Core units cover areas such as applying basic levelling procedures, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, preparing surfaces for tiling, installing floor and wall tiles, applying waterproofing, and WHS requirements. Elective units include carrying out basic demolition, applying waterproofing to internal wet areas, and carrying out concreting to simple forms.
Yes, the course is CRICOS registered with Code 117857A and is available to international students. International students must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum IELTS overall band score of 6.0 (or equivalent in PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge English), be at least 18 years of age at course commencement, and meet numeracy skills requirements. The 2026 offshore student tuition fee is AU$21,900.00 (excluding material and enrolment fees).
Assessment includes practical demonstrations, written assessments, projects, and workplace-based assessment where applicable. Learners receive ongoing support throughout the program, and progress is monitored to ensure achievement of competency in accordance with national training package requirements.
After completing this qualification, graduates are equipped for roles such as Wall and Floor Tiler, Construction Site Tiler, Renovation and Restoration Specialist, Self-employed Tiling Contractor, and Tiling Supervisor. Graduates can work in both small businesses and large-scale building and construction projects, and there is also the potential for apprenticeship placements with employers, supporting long-term employment and professional development.
