Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling

The Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (CPC31320) provides a trade outcome in wall and floor tiling for residential and commercial construction, suitable as an Australian apprenticeship pathway. Delivered by Waratah Polytechnic at its Burwood campus in Sydney, the course covers reading plans and tiling specifications, measuring and setting out tiling jobs, preparing surfaces, cutting and fixing tiles, applying waterproofing, and grouting and finishing tiled surfaces to industry standards. Completion of general construction induction training (CPCWHS1001) is required for anyone carrying out construction work.

The program follows a blended learning model of 15 hours face-to-face training, 5 hours of structured online learning, and around 5 hours of self-study per week, delivered across 8 terms, with training conducted in a fully-equipped tiling workshop using industry-standard tools and tile cutters. There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification.

Graduates are prepared for roles such as Wall and Floor Tiler, Tiler, Commercial Tiler, Bathroom and Kitchen Renovation Tiler and Mosaic Tiler, with pathways into Leading Hand/Team Leader, Site Supervisor, Estimator or Building Project Manager. Graduates can progress directly into the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) or trade apprenticeships for further specialisation in tiling and waterproofing.
