Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling

The CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling at Victorian College of Education Australia (VCEA) provides a trade outcome in wall and floor tiling for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements covering common skills for the construction industry as well as the specialist field of wall and floor tiling. Tilers work with materials such as ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay: they cut these materials and lay tiles on interior and exterior walls and floors, and may also add decorative touches to their basic work. The qualification requires 20 units — 15 core units and 5 electives — covering applying basic levelling procedures, applying waterproofing for wall and floor tiling, working effectively and sustainably in the construction industry, planning and organising work, workplace communication, measurements and calculations, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, handling wall and floor tiling materials, using tiling tools and equipment, preparing surfaces for tiling application, installing floor and wall tiles, repairing wall and floor tiling, installing decorative and mosaic tiling, tiling curved surfaces, working safely at heights and applying WHS requirements.

Delivery is face to face in the classroom at VCEA's Queen Street campus in Melbourne, with assessment through classroom activity, projects, case studies and assignments. The course runs for 52 weeks full time including holidays and orientation. Tuition is $18,000, plus a non-refundable enrolment fee of $450 and a materials fee of $2,500. Individuals may enter the qualification by completing the CPC20120 Certificate II in Construction. After achieving the Certificate III, graduates could progress to the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction or the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).
