Prepare financial reports
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to record general journal adjustment entries and to prepare end of period financial reports.
Prepare operational budgets
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to record and prepare payroll documentation and answer payroll queries and process payroll for manual and computerised systems. Implement organisational policy and procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.
Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to prepare and process routine financial documents, prepare journal entries, post journal entries to ledgers, prepare banking and reconcile financial receipts, and extract a trial balance and interim reports.
Administer subsidiary accounts and Ledgers
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to reconcile and monitor subsidiary accounts in financial accounts receivable systems, identify bad and doubtful debts and plan a recovery action, record creditor invoices, and remit payments to sundry creditors.

Complete business activity and instalment activity statements
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to identify and apply compliance requirements to effectively process and complete business activity statements (BAS), instalment activity statements (IAS), and other required reports.
Design and produce spreadsheets
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to identify task purpose and audience, select the most appropriate application to produce spreadsheets, design spreadsheets to suit purpose and information requirements, and format spreadsheets using application functions.
Prepare financial statements for non-reporting entities
Students will gain skills and knowledge required to gather data and create financial statements, verify internal and external financial data to confirm accuracy, and review the statements for errors and compliance with accounting standards and organisational procedures.

The program for FNS40222 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping is delivered over 52 weeks with actual student contact hours being 20 hours per week for 40 weeks. It has been divided into 4 terms of 10 weeks each with 12 weeks of holidays.
Students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language competency by one of the following: a current IELTS score of 6.0 total or above with no band lower than 6.0; proof of completion of an Australian qualification in English language of one year or longer duration; successful completion of an approved English for Academic Purposes course meeting IELTS 6.0 equivalent requirements; or a successful score of Upper Intermediate Level on the School's English Language Placement Test.
Each unit comprises assessment tasks such as written questions, case studies, and practical assessments. Assessments are competency based, with outcomes of Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC). If a student receives a 'Not Yet Competent' outcome, they will receive written feedback from a trainer/assessor clearly outlining the gaps, and will be required to rectify these gaps and re-submit their assessment. Students have three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency; otherwise a unit re-enrolment fee applies.
