Eligibility
Southern Academy of Business and Technology has the following entry requirements: Students must: Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 11 or equivalent. Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following: the student has successfully completed a foundation course in Australia; the student has successfully completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or Successful completion of LLN test. Participate in activities to determine suitability for the course and student needs, as required. *Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5. Course specific entry requirements: Not applicable

Yes. Persons providing a BAS service for a fee or other reward must be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), and this qualification is currently cited as meeting the TPB education requirements for registration as a BAS agent. Other requirements apply, including a designated period of experience. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration requirements with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly.
Students are required to attend 13.5 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 6.5 hours per week. Homework is expected to be approximately 5 hours a week, bringing the total weekly commitment to around 25 hours. The total delivery and assessment hours amount to 800 hours and the volume of learning (including unsupervised learning and homework) is 1,000 hours.
Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting or into a range of other Diploma level qualifications. Potential employment options are entry level accounting roles across a range of industries.
Yes. Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience through credit transfer or recognition of prior learning (RPL). The granting of course credit may affect course fees as well as the duration of the course. Assessment will occur through a variety of methods, including projects incorporating role-plays, case studies, observations, and short answer questions. Assessment conditions will ensure a simulated workplace environment for classroom-based assessment. Assessment tasks reflect real life work tasks, are required to be performed within industry standard timeframes, utilise authentic workplace documentation, and involve the use of standard workplace equipment such as computers and software.
