Common Questions
Students must complete the CHC33015 or CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) prior to commencing the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support. The course duration of 6 months is based on the successful completion of this prerequisite course.
As a requirement of this course, you will complete a 120-hour work placement in an aged care setting where you will get practical industry experience to prepare you for a team leader role in the aged care industry. At least 6 weeks before starting any work placement, you must have a current Australian national police check (the cost of which is not included in course fees), and you are also required to have a double COVID-19 and flu vaccination.
The course is timetabled for 28 weeks, including 20 weeks of training and assessment across 2 terms of 10 weeks, and 8 weeks of holidays. Each week, you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week for self-directed learning should be set aside for homework.
Upon completing the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, you can apply for roles such as Aged Care Team Leader, Home Care Team Leader, Community Care Centre Team Leader, Residential Care Officer, Care Service Team Leader, and Volunteer Coordinator. The qualification also enables you to provide specialised support to elderly clients across various settings, supervise other support workers, and advocate for the elderly within legal and ethical guidelines.
Completing the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support opens up a number of pathways into the Community Services industry. It provides a stepping stone into the CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services, as well as the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services, offering more opportunities for professional development.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
