The course is delivered in the classroom for theory-based learning, giving students the opportunity to share ideas, discuss and explore core concepts and practice skills before applying them in work placement. Training is delivered 3 days per week: 2 days from 9am to 4pm and 1 day from 9am to 5pm. Students also have access to a clinical simulation room to learn and practice skills such as performing activities of daily living tasks, using equipment such as the lifting hoist, and practicing safe manual handling and infection control techniques.
A variety of assessment methods are used for this qualification, including written questions, projects, case studies, role plays, and research. Students will be provided with a Student Assessment Booklet for each unit of competency which includes a full description of all assessment tasks, assessment instructions, assessment resources, details about when assessment will occur, and details about assessment submission. Assessment is conducted individually.
Graduates of the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support can pursue career roles including personal care worker, aged care worker, in-home respite worker, assistant community services worker, program coordinator/supervisor, and care supervisor or team leader.
All students will complete a language literacy and numeracy assessment to determine their learning support needs and will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources. Where additional support needs have been identified, an Individual Support Plan will be developed which may include mentoring from trainers, additional classes, tutorials and workshops, online support and exercises, computer and technology support, referral to external support services, and reasonable adjustment to assessments. Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
