Requirements

Age: Minimum age of 18 years or turning 18 years old prior to commencement of the course
Education: Year 12 Australian Senior High School Certificate, or equivalent (e.g. completion of Year 12 or High School in the students home country) with full academic results
English Language: Upper-Intermediate English (equivalent to 5.5 academic or general IELTS) and successful completion of college LLN Test
Identification: Photo ID and evidence of citizenship (international students must provide copy of passport)
Computer Skills & Equipment: Beginner/intermediate computing skills including use of Microsoft Office programmes; hardware requirements of a desktop or portable computer with keyboard, pointing device, speaker, web camera and microphone, and a broadband internet connection
Work Placement: Applicants must be able to make themselves available to undertake the industry placement that forms part of the training and assessment activity
Vaccination: Students should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to undertaking placement
Police Check: Prior to commencement of Vocational Placement students are required to organise and complete an Australian Federal Police Check
Additional (Queensland Health): Students working within Queensland Health are also required to obtain a Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card) and have Hepatitis A & B immunisation before commencing Clinical Placements

Frequently Asked Questions

How many work placement hours are required and how are they organised?

Students are required to complete 120 hours of industry placement. The placement is in an aged care facility organised by Educare College and takes place after the successful completion of classroom activities and prescribed assessments. Students must complete shifts as determined by the placement provider, which can vary and may include mornings (commencing at 6am), evenings (finishing at 11pm), and possibly some night shifts between Monday and Sunday.

What are the fees for this course?

The domestic fee for service is $4,833 and the international (student visa) fee is $6,600. Additional fees include an Enrolment Fee of $250 and a Material Fee of $500.

What campuses is this course offered at?

This course is offered at two campuses: Brisbane Centre Campus located at Level 3, 316 Adelaide Street, Brisbane 4000, and the Gold Coast Centre 2 Campus. Both campuses offer monthly intakes and the course runs for 32 weeks.

Do I need a police check before starting placement?

Yes, prior to commencement of Vocational Placement students are required to organise and complete an Australian Federal Police Check. Students must obtain the Check to go on Placement and be able to complete the qualification. For students working within Queensland Health, a Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card) and Hepatitis A & B immunisation are also required before commencing Clinical Placements.
