Students are required to complete a total of 160 hours of work placement in a nursing home, community services or home care/aged care facilities. This is incorporated into the course as 8 weeks of the 40 scheduled tuition weeks.
For work placement, students must possess a Police check via the Australian Federal Police, have a reasonable level of fitness to complete manual and physically demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time, provide updated Vaccination/immunisation Records (influenza and COVID-19 Vaccines), and obtain a Working with Children Check.
Yes. Students can apply for Credit Transfer where there is an exact match of units of competency achieved through an accredited VET qualification at an approved RTO. Students can also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for existing skills and knowledge obtained through workplace training or experience. If RPL or credit transfer is approved, the student's Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) will be adjusted to reflect any reduction in the period of study, while the study load will remain at the scheduled 20 hours per week as per student visa requirements.
Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into courses such as the Diploma of Community Services or any other higher courses. New Era Institute also offers a package combining the Certificate IV in Ageing Support with the Diploma of Community Services, with a total duration of 156 weeks (3 years).
Students who did not complete this course may receive an academic record in the form of a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the units they have successfully completed.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
