The Certificate IV in Ageing Support at ACIS has a duration of 52 weeks.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification; however, to achieve the qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. All students must also undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test mapped at ACSF level 3 and a pre-training review conducted by ACIS.
International students must satisfy one of the following: a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 for direct entry; an IELTS score of 5.0 with an ELICOS course of up to 10 weeks; an IELTS score of 4.5 with an ELICOS course of up to 20 weeks; evidence of studying in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States; or successful completion of a relevant Australian qualification within two years of the application date. Results more than two years old are not acceptable.
Completing the Certificate IV in Ageing Support provides students with the knowledge and skills to work in residential, home or community-based environments. Job positions include Personal care worker, Day activity worker, Hostel supervisor, Care supervisor, Care team leader, Accommodation Support worker, Program coordinator (Social programs), and Support worker.
All learners are expected to bring a laptop with the latest operating system or higher, have access to MS Office applications such as Microsoft Word, an active email address for communication, and be contactable by phone (mobile or landline) and by mail (postal address). ACIS will provide access to computers/laptops with required resources during classroom hours.
