Common Questions
Students are required to complete a work placement of a minimum of 120 hours. Ausford College will assist you to find a work placement, or you may find your own. As a requirement of work placement, you will need to complete a National Police Certificate and some workplaces may require further checks such as working with children and disability worker checks, which cost around $50–$80 each.
The total cost of the course is AUD $15,000 in course fees, plus a non-refundable enrolment fee of $250 (to be paid on application) and material fees of $2,500. Course fees do not include laptops or software. Non-tuition fees may also apply and can be found in the International Student Handbook.
International students must have an IELTS score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of being educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country, or successful completion of an English Placement Test. Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can also be accepted if confirmed to be equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
Students who complete the Certificate IV in Ageing Support may wish to continue their education into CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services or a range of other community services qualifications.
You must bring your own laptop with Office 365 (or a similar program) to all classes. For a PC, you will need an Intel® or AMD 64-bit processor at 2 GHz or faster, Windows 10, at least 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), and 3.1 GB of hard-disk space. For macOS, you need a multicore Intel 64-bit processor, macOS 10.12 or later, and at least 2 GB RAM (8 GB recommended). Office 365 costs approximately $129 annually, and a suitable laptop costs approximately $450. These costs are not included in your course fees.
