Entry Requirements
- You must have completed the English language test within two (2) years of the application date.
- IELTS minimum overall score: 6.0 (5.5 with 10 weeks ELICOS; 5.0 with 20 weeks ELICOS)
- TOEFL iBT minimum score: 64 (only accepted if test is taken on or before 25 July 2023) (46 with 10 weeks ELICOS; 35 with 20 weeks ELICOS)
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) minimum score: 169 (162 with 10 weeks ELICOS; 154 with 20 weeks ELICOS)
- PTE Academic minimum score: 50 (42 with 10 weeks ELICOS; 36 with 20 weeks ELICOS)
- Occupational English Test: B for each test component
- English language test evidence exemption applies if you are a citizen and hold a passport from the UK, USA, Canada, NZ, or Republic of Ireland.
- Exemption applies if you are a Foreign Affairs or Defence-sponsored student or a Secondary Exchange student (AASES).
- Exemption applies if you are enrolled in a principal course that is a registered school course, a standalone ELICOS course, a course delivered in a language other than English, or a registered postgraduate research course.
- Exemption applies if you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
- Exemption applies if, in the 2 years before applying for the student visa, you completed in Australia and in English, either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or a substantial component of a course leading to an AQF qualification at Certificate IV or higher level while holding a student visa.
- If exempt from providing an English test score, you will be required to provide evidence and may also need to complete an English Placement Test conducted by OCT.
- Applicants must also complete the ACSF Level LLND Test as required by OCT.

How long does the Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology take to complete?
This qualification will be delivered over 30 weeks of training and assessment without any holidays.
How is the course assessed?
Units are assessed individually via a range of assessment methods, including Written Assessment, Verbal Questioning, and Practical Demonstrations observed directly by the assessor. Students also have the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers (CT).
What is the rolling intake process and how does it work?
OCT operates on a rolling intake timetable. All students must complete the units in the initial stage (specifically AURETR125 – Test, charge and replace batteries and jump-start vehicles) prior to merging with older students in ongoing classes. Students can commence their course in any of these units and in any order, and each student will be provided with an individual training and assessment plan outlining their timetable.
What English language scores are required to enrol in this course?
The minimum English language requirements include: IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or 5.5 with 10 weeks ELICOS, or 5.0 with 20 weeks ELICOS), PTE Academic score of 50 (or 42/36 with ELICOS), Cambridge English Advanced score of 169 (or 162/154 with ELICOS), and Occupational English Test grade B for each test component. What can a student do if they disagree with an assessment decision?
Students can make an appeal against any assessment decision by following the Complaints and Appeals Policy outlined in the Student Handbook and on the website. All appeals and complaints will be dealt with according to the Complaints and Appeals Procedure.
