Common Questions
Those undertaking Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis are required to have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency. Domestic students must possess sound written and spoken English skills and complete a pretraining interview Language Literacy, Numeracy test. International students must be 18 years or over, have completed year 12 (HSC or equivalent) or relevant industry experience, and hold a minimum 6 IELTS score or equivalent.
This qualification will be delivered over 26 weeks including 6 weeks of break. The classes will be conducted 2 days a week for 8 hours each and 1 day a week for 4 hours. Plus students will need to attend additional 25 hours practice time in the automotive workshop per term, and approximately 8 hours per week towards self-paced learning and assessment.
Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR50116 Diploma of Automotive Management, AUR50216 Diploma in Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications. Career-wise, the qualification provides advanced training for automotive technicians, with job roles including automotive lead or master technician and automotive technical adviser.
Training Australia First uses a range of assessment methods which may include written assessments, case scenarios, and observation. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available for those with relevant work experience, and Credit Transfer/National Recognition is offered for AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation in Australia.
Yes, all students must participate in Workshop Safety Training at the start of their course. Students will be provided safety training and will be assessed on their safety skills before they are allowed to complete any further training and/or assessment in the workshop.
