Common Questions
Entry into this qualification is limited to students who have previously completed AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent. Additionally, international students must be at least 18 years of age, meet education requirements of Year 12 or equivalent (including Year 10 Maths pass) or a Certificate III qualification or above, and meet English requirements of an IELTS academic score of 6.0 or equivalent taken no more than 12 months ago.
This qualification is delivered over 52 weeks, including 36 weeks of training and assessment and 16 weeks of holidays.
Students who complete this course may be able to seek employment in a range of automotive retail and services roles such as Auto Mechanic, Automotive Light Vehicle Master Technician, Automotive Repair Technician, and Automotive Mechanical Technician. Licensing requirements may apply. Students are also provided with advice on employment and training options throughout the delivery of the program.
The course is conducted with a blended learning model that includes face-to-face learning in classrooms and in automotive workshops, and also via interactive online learning. Facilities provided include training rooms and fully functioning automotive workshops with light vehicles, tools and manufacturer specifications required for all units, as well as personal protective and safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection and gloves.
Students are required to have a laptop installed with Microsoft Office or similar, text books, safety work boots, overalls, and other personal protective equipment and tools as listed on the resources list prior to enrolment.
